Love getting mail at work especially when it was bought on sale. Looking forward to fitting all this with the 22mm front and 20mm rear adjustable heavy duty swaybars I’ve had the past few years.

It was All Japan Day @alljapanday again this past Sunday down at Wigley Reserve. I was a bit short for time and had my dog with me too so only spent an hour there and didn’t get many pics, but @autozam_will ’s Autozam AZ-1 was a real standout for me. A quick test fit to see how much the #ssrmk2r fill the arches.
I probably could have done +32 offset rather than +34 so that the back guards were filled out more, but the +34 is just about right for the front. The outer lip will be just flush with the top of the front guard when fitted and suspension is at ride height 👌
The rear tires on the current setup already tuck in hard turns and really don’t want to roll the guards much if at all if I didn’t have to.

Pretty darn happy! I finally scored some SSR Mk2-R wheels in the specs I was looking for. Have only been looking for them in these dimensions for about 2 years now, anything I had come across has usually been for sale posts on forums from 4 - 5 years ago and already sold… OR I saw a set on eBay in the US but they wanted twice as much for them as I paid for these. Then I bid and missed out on a set last month on Yahoo Japan but then this cleaner set popped up with a lower buy now price so I had to jump on them.
They are a mid 90s light-weight “racing” three-piece interpretation of SSR’s iconic MK2. They have hollow spokes and a lot of other weight saving features, but I’ve seen indication that at 15x7 they are around 13.4lb or 6kg a wheel which doesn’t seem exceptionally light to me?? The factory Series 2 Super S alloy wheels were four spokes too and the roundness to these I hope will fit the bubble styling of the K11.
Anyway at at 15x6.5 +34, they should have a reasonable amount of polished lip once cleaned up and sit just inside the guards. I’m not after poke, or the stance look, that’s not what I remember about the 1990s car scenes or any of the 90s JDM magazines I have, so really trying to stay clean and period correct for my K11.
Do I keep the centres silver? Or do them white??
Can’t remember where I found this youtube channel but I love it. Seems like it is some small car club from Japan that specialises in meeting up with their 1960s-70s classics. Such simple videos but great to watch.

Watching today’s @mightycarmods episode reminded me of the two Toyota Seras that were at this year’s @alljapanday back in February. Such uniquely awesome little coupes, and these two were so minty clean 👌
I’ve always loved the JDM Nineties-ness of the Sera, they kinda remind me of the Toyota Paseo of the same era only it got given a Pyrex glass baking dish instead of an actual roof 🤷♂️

I just bid on a set of SSR MK2-R on Yahoo Auctions Japan.
Specs are 15 x 6.5j +34 and should look pretty sweet on Charlotte (fingers crossed). I really want the K11 to look 90s spec but still fit in at the local coffee and cars without coming off dated. I guess tastefully “period correct” would be the thing? Excessive poke and all stanced out is not my style, the aim is still to be able to be daily driven and to survive the occasional spirited hills run.
ANYWAY, the wheels I’ve bid on will need a really decent clean up with new paint on the centres, polish the lip and probably new hardware to keep the centre fixed nice and cleanly to the barrels. From all accounts I can’t find a lot of information on this style of wheel other than they were a 90′s homage to the original SSR MK2 and are rounded design with 4 hollow spokes which make them quite light weight. Anyone who has previously listed them simply state them as “rare”.
Interestingly, I found references on a Honda forum (pic attached) that back in the day there were some NISMO branded ones sold which will mean they will match up perfectly to the NISMO body kit I’ve already got for the Micra. I’ve also found a refurbished set of NISMO ones on eBay which are pictured in this post…
No these aren’t the ones I’m bidding on by if I win the Yahoo auction I hope they will clean up as nicely.
